The Saddle River Youth Theatre (SRYT) has recently been awarded a 2012 Excellence Award from The Bergen County Department Of Parks, Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs.

Saddle River Youth Theatre, founded in 1996, has been an integral part of Youth Theatre education and production in Bergen County, N.J., for 17 years now. Our team of dedicated theater professionals has sought to enrich the cultural and artisitic enjoyment of N.J. theater audiences by bringing the Broadway experience to local communities. With over 140 shows to our credit, in addition to countless specialized workshops such as: Auditioning Techniques, Acting For Film, and Shakespeare For Teens--our talented and nurturing staff of teachers share a common goal. Our shared philosophy is to reinforce self-confidence as well as encourage teamwork among cast members and their peers.

By taking part in theater productions, students (Ages 6-18) have an opportunity to participate in full-scale shows in our recently-renovated, 120-seat, air-conditioned Playhouse. Every child gets a part and no part is too small. A vast majority of our younger students have continued to train with us through their teenage years, utilizing the skills they have learned through our classes, shows and overall SRYT experience.

We have recently developed an INTERNSHIP PROGRAM where students, ages 13-17, learn backstage arts such as lighting & sound design, stage design and stage management, which they implement in our very own productions. (see PROGRAMS)

Many of our younger casts members aspire to become part of our Teen Repertory. The Repertory is a program that grew out of our adult community theatre group, The Park Players---originally created to launch the rebirth of the Historic Paramount Theater in Asbury Park, New Jersey in 2007. These extremely talented actors have also performed here at our own theatre, the Highlands Regional Playhouse located in Allendale.

We invite you to explore our website and learn more about the SRYT theater experience, whether to take part in a specialized acting workshop, or an upcoming,full-scale musical show.

Our theater family has grown by leaps and bounds over the past 17 years and we are excited to invite countless more children to join in the SRYT experience. Visit us and learn why the Bergen County Departmentof Cultural & Historic Affairs has deemed Saddle River Youth Theatre, "an outstanding theater education program".

                                     Sincerely,
                                    Christopher J. Barker
                                     Executive Director, SRYT, Inc.

A FEW WORDS FROM OUR CAST MEMBERS & FAMILIES ABOUT SRYT...

"When you hear the audience clap, laugh or cry because of what
you are doing it is the best feeling in the world and I don't know what
is better than that!"

"You make a difference in children's lives everyday. Thank you!"

"We think the world of SRYT and can't wait until the next show!"

"This was the best summer I had in a long time with many thanks to you! As I saw my parents faces at the end of the show and I heard how proud they were of me I can only thank you for making this all happen."

"We have all enjoyed watching the shows so much and sincerely appreciate all of your efforts!"
