Dear Theater Friends and Families,

Welcome back to an exciting new year at Highlands Regional Playhouse! I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about our new Membership Benefits Program. With the rising costs of theater expenses, we at SRYT have done our best throughout the years to keep tuition prices and ticket costs as affordable as possible while maintaining the quality of our programming. It is for this reason that we are now introducing Membership Benefits offering you discounted prices and additional privileges reserved solely for our Members. Your once-a-year membership fee is your family’s passport to magic, romance and adventure in our spectacular season of programs including: “Cinderella”, “The Sound Of Music”, “High School Musical 2.”, “Beauty and The Beast”, Theater Intensives, Adult Acting Classes, Summer Drama Camps and so much more!

Thank you for being part of our theater family and helping us to continue to give the gift of live theater. Taking part in community theater is a soul-fulfilling experience that builds our children’s confidence and self-esteem, encourages teamwork and brings great joy to all of the family, friends and community members that experience these wonderful shows with us. Thank you for joining as we begin our Third Season at Highlands Regional Playhouse

Sincerely,

Chris Barker

About Us

In 2007, the Executive Director of SRYT, Inc., Christopher Barker, was awarded the position of Artistic Director of a Summer Theater Series at The Paramount Theater in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The Park Players was created for this series of shows and has become the celebrated adult theater wing of SRYT, Inc.

The Park Players Summer Series was commissioned by the Madison Marquette company to shine a spotlight on the rebirth of the Boardwalk District of Asbury Park and The Paramount Theater. The show that were chosen for that series reflected the highly entertaining “black box theater” experiences you might be able to find in any major downtown city.

From the 80’s cult classic, “Parallel Lives” (The Kathy and Mo Show) with comedy sketch after sketch flavored with feminism, where two actresses portray dozens of characters from little schoolgirls to geriatrics to “Forever Plaid”, the muscial about a harmony group from the 1950’s that were killed in an automobile accident and brought back to life to play one last concert, the Park Players Summer series had something for everyone. and delivered a refreshing blend of music, laughter, dance and comedy.

In January 2008, original members of our “Forever Plaid” show brought their amazing harmonies and slapstick skills to the Highlands Regional Playhouse for a month of sold-out Saturdays and in June 2007, Park Players alums, including “Clothes Encounters”’s lead, Justin Anthony Long, paired with our Youth Theatre students for our first Park Players Mentoring Program show: “Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”.

Upcoming pairings of Park Players Cast Members and our SRYT students will include: “The Sound Of Music” (December 2008) and “Fame” (August 2009).
