New! PROFESSIONAL YOUTH PROGRAM - ELF Jr.

Why not take your SRYT experience to the next level?

We are excited to introduce our PROFESSIONAL YOUTH PROGRAM (PYP)! Select students will join our new Community Theatre ensemble as a member of a cast of adults, teens and children! Our current school-year season will include this Fall’s “ELF Jr” and Spring 2018’s Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “CINDERELLA”. These will be single-cast, professional musical productions with live music accompaniment. To enhance the rehearsal process, PYP students Grades 1-7th will also participate in enrichment classes: Acting Method, Audition Preparation, Advance Vocal Instruction and Dance For Musical Theatre. This is a tuition-based program for Grades 1-7. Grades 8-12 students who have the opportunity to participate must only submit a materials fee; the community theatre is free for adults, older siblings, parents and grandparents alike.

PYP Instructors will track a student’s progress as he/she ascends seven skill levels. Each successful skills test will reward cast members with new advantages, opportunities, and responsibilities at SRYT. Within the program, from white-level APPRENTICES all the way to black-level COMPANY MEMBERS, the new PYP System will take SRYT members on their journeys to becoming professional actors.

How do PYP members ascend levels? At the end of each season’s training program, students may elect to take a skills test as one might do to earn a subsequent karate belt. The test will be overseen by our Director, Vocal Instructor and Choreographer. If you have participated in several SRYT productions and would like to pursue your passion further, take the next step with us, and learn more about joining the PYP today.

Explore www.sryt.info ‘s Community Theatre page for audition requirements, character descriptions and vocal ranges for “ELF Jr.” Audition Sides will be posted on www.sryt.org’s Audition Sides page on October 1, 2017. “Elf Jr.” will rehearse November-December 2017 with shows December 15h & 16.
